  • LaSal Mountains

    LaSal Mountains

This photo was taken from a spot outside of Moab Utah, looking South. The clouds were working perfectly for me on that day.

  • High Canadian Rockies

    High Canadian Rockies

I was about 30 when I took this photo from the Plane of the Six Glaciers, near Lake Louise. Being there made you feel so insignificant. Summer of 1970.

  • Grand Canyon

    Grand Canyon

Taken the summer of 1971 this was on the South Rim of the Canyon facing NE. The Colorado River 5000 ft. below flows into the canyon from Glen Canyon Damn about 70 miles away. A couple of years later I would find myself down there on the river as I floated by this very spot on a rafting trip

  • Hunlen Falls Canada

    Hunlen Falls Canada

These are the 3rd highest falls in Canada. Actually they are the highest single drop falls as others are multiple stepped. The drop is 1316 feet. I took this on a trip back in 1978. It rained 30 out of 31 days that I was on that trip. The day it didn't rain was the day I left San Diego. Canada registered a 100 year flood in Edmonton. I was just about 100 miles from there on that day hold up in my motel room.

  • Grand Canyon

    Grand Canyon

This shot was from the North Rim of the Canyon looking Easterly.

  • Utah Butte

    Utah Butte

I'm not sure of the location of this photo. It could be Monument Valley but I'm thinking more likely its from Northern Utah possibly along Interstate Highway 70. Where ever it is it is magnificent.

  • Infrared photo

    Infrared photo

I was trying my hand with infrared photography. This was taken next to Lake Henshaw in North Eastern San Diego County.

This is but one of 15 lighthouses that adorn the Oregon coastline.

  • Washington State Water Fall

    Washington State Water Fall

Traveling along one of the many roads through the forests in Central Washington I came across these falls. I don't know the name or even the road I was on. Just a road East of Mt Saint Helens.

  • Lower Yellowstone Falls

    Lower Yellowstone Falls

Taken on one of my many trips to Yellowstone Park. Don't remember when.

  • Grand Teton dressed by the clouds.

Grand Teton dressed by the clouds.

Another of my trips to Wyoming to the Grand Teton range sometime around 2010. This was taken near Jackson Lake.

  • A gate to nowhere

    A gate to nowhere

Traveling along a road in Colorado I came across this gate. The road beyond had been swallowed up by vegetation.

  • Colorado Mill

    Colorado Mill

One morning I arrive at the site of this old mill, found about 10 miles from the nearest paved road. Our path to this spot was via a 4 wheel drive road. The light was totally wrong for the shot. We waited for 8 hours for the afternoon light to get this photo. What photographers wont do for the right light.

  • Colorado Mill

    Colorado Mill

I took a little artistic license with this shot of the mill to make it look more painterly. Then rendered it in black and white for a more dramatic look.

  • Grist Mill, West Virginia

    Grist Mill, West Virginia

Probably one of the most iconic and most photographed mill in the US. I traveled from San Diego to West Virginia just for this shot. The rest of the 30 day trip was just icing on the cake.

  • Vermillion Cliffs, AZ

    Vermillion Cliffs, AZ

Traveling between the North and South rims of the Grand Canyon along Alt 89 one encounters the Vermillion Cliffs. To the North is the infamous Coyote Butte with amazing rock formations. Just to see this park requires enormous patience since the park service allows only 10 people a day to visit it, on foot. I've tried, unsuccessfully for years to get a permit.

  • Grist Mill

    Grist Mill

Black and White version of my Grist Mill photo series.

  • Snowy Morning Mist

    Snowy Morning Mist

From the time I saw this scene as I drove South out of McCall, ID. I drove off the main road onto side road about 200 ft., got out of the car, grabbed my camera, turned and shot this scene. All within 90 seconds. 15 second later the mist lifted and the shot was gone.

  • Sawtooth Mountain Range, Id

    Sawtooth Mountain Range, Id

Another photo where I had to wait many hours to get the conditions right. I drove passed this scene early morning to find a morning sun and a cloudless sky. I returned 7 hours later to find storm clouds brewing for an afternoon thunder storm. Perfect.

  • Area near the Prismatic Springs

    Area near the Prismatic Springs

This panoramic shot was made from 9 vertical shots combined. It depicts the region just to the South of Yellowstone's Prismatic Spring Pools. The two large plumes of steam rise from two of the pools at the right edge of the scene.

    Moulton Barn

  • Moulton Barn, Wyoming

    Moulton Barn, Wyoming

Often suggested to be the most photographed barn in the world. It lies a few miles North of Jackson, Wyoming. No less than 25 photographers were there in the hour I spent getting my shots. This was at 6:15 A.M. I had been there since 5:10 A.M.
